A few months ago, I noticed something that I couldn't stop thinking about. Every time I listened to successful entrepreneurs on podcasts or read biographies, I kept hearing different stories but arriving at the same conclusion. Whether it was Alex Hormozi talking about business, Steven Bartlett interviewing founders on The Diary of a CEO, or reading Atomic Habits by James Clear, there was one pattern that stood out to me. None of these people became successful because one lucky opportunity changed their lives. The opportunity came much later. What changed first was who they were becoming.
That idea made me look at my own life.
For a long time, I believed success was mostly about having the right idea, enough money, or meeting the right people. I thought that if I could just get one big break, everything else would fall into place. But over the last few years, I've slowly started changing my mind. Looking back, I can see that before anything around me started changing, something inside me had already begun to change. I started asking different questions, spending my time differently, and becoming interested in things that never used to matter to me.
I now believe that becoming successful happens in three stages. (These are my thoughts)
The first stage is the mindset shift. This is where everything begins in the mind, even though nobody else notices it. You start taking responsibility for your future. Instead of asking, "Ahh just get a normal job and opportunities will come? which is good but for me no" you begin to think like, "I think I can do more than everyone else, I think I am the chosen one in the family, I don't want to be like normal people work eat die?, I want to have a purpose in life" you start questioning everything why this, why that, like to I calculated degree salary if I save everything for 10 years and I was like ooh naah this ain't for me, It sounds like a small change, but I think it's one of the biggest turning points in a person's life. Your actions can never grow beyond your thinking.
one of my favorite quote from brian tracy is "You Become What You Think About" I even have a post on this here
The second stage is character, and honestly, this is where I think I am today writting this post on July 23, 2026. I haven't achieved everything I dream about yet, but I can feel myself becoming someone different. A few years ago, I would hesitate before making decisions because I was afraid of failing. Today, I still fail, but I don't fear it the same way. I've become more comfortable taking risks, trusting my instincts, and choosing long-term growth over short-term comfort. These aren't things you can measure on a bank statement, but they're the things that eventually create one.
James Clear writes in Atomic Habits that every action you take is a vote for the type of person you want to become. When I first read that sentence, I thought it was simply about building good habits. Now I think it's much bigger than that. Every decision you make is shaping your identity. Every book you read, every difficult conversation you have, every time you choose discipline over comfort, you're becoming someone. Whether you realize it or not, your character is under construction every single day.
one of my other favourite quote goes like "everything that you do counts"
The third stage is becoming. This is the stage everyone notices, but few people understand. People see the success, the confidence, the achievements, and assume it happened overnight, but they don't see the years of growth, the mindset shifts, and the small decisions that shaped the person behind it. When people look at entrepreneurs, athletes, or creators who reached the top, they see the result, not the person they had to become before achieving it. I believe success is not something you simply chase, but something that comes as a result of who you become. I am not at this stage yet, and I’m okay with that. I believe I am still building my character, changing my habits, improving my mindset, and preparing for what comes next. Becoming cannot be rushed, you can't rush to greatness; just like a tree needs time to grow roots before producing fruit, every stage of growth has a purpose.
I have a good line for this I took from brian tracy that goes like: "Everything in human life is an accumulation of hundreds or even thousands of tiny efforts that no body sees or appreciate".
I think this is why many people quit too early. They expect results before they expect transformation. They want the business before becoming an entrepreneur. They want confidence before becoming courageous. They want success before becoming the kind of person who can sustain it. But life doesn't seem to work that way. It changes you first, then it changes your circumstances.
Listen, in order to be the guy who can handle everything in bussiness/entreprenuership you need that charaacter and you are building it now my friend.
Sometimes I get this strange feeling that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be. Not because everything is perfect, but because I can feel the person I'm becoming. My interests have changed. The way I think has changed. The things that excite me have changed. I don't know what the future holds, but I know I'm no longer the same person I used to be. That alone gives me confidence that I'm moving in the right direction.
Maybe that's what becoming really is. It's not waking up one day as a successful entrepreneur. It's slowly becoming the kind of person who naturally creates successful businesses. The world eventually notices the success, but the real story began years earlier, when nobody was watching.
If you're reading this and you feel like nothing is happening in your life, don't ignore the changes that are happening inside you. I feel you buddy, Your mindset may already be shifting. Your character may already be forming. Success might simply be waiting for those two things to catch up.
And because of this what I figured out I came up with my own quote that goes like.
"At First, you start with a mindset shift, then a character shift, then you become|".
